All supplies are provided, and all that's required is resonable skill with the hands,  brain, and some curiosity. The session will start with a brief explanation of the projects and how they work, followed by interactive, hands-on construction and play.

Life on the Roll:  A View from a Wheelchair

Wheelchairs are everywhere nowadays. You see them at the mall, the post office, airports and even  at homeschooling conferences. They don't all look the same, so perhaps people use them for different reasons? This wheelchair user will explain the various conditions which make using a wheelchair necessary. We'll discuss the particular problems and opportunities it creates. If you have ever wondered what wheeled-life is like, you'll have a chance to test-drive three different kinds of manual wheelchairs (ones without a motor, which you push by hand). Homeschooling and 4H -- Great Partners!

Learning By Doing” is the 4-H motto… and the homeschooler’s mantra. "Homeschool 4-H" takes an already great program and makes it even better. No longer centered around livestock, today’s 4-H offers projects as diverse as its members’ interests and imaginations and provides countless leadership opportunities for youth. Computers,
rockets, camping, geocaching, felting, polymer clay, cooking, sewing, crafts, almost any topic you want to share with youths, can be a 4-H project. Community service and public speaking are also a big part of 4-H culture. So gather 'round to hear two leaders and two youth talk about how 4-H (yes, 4-H!) can be a homeschoolers’ watering hole, a meeting place, and a hands-on learning cooperative for children as young as five and as old as 19.

Finally, we will be going through a design construction process to explore real-life applications, time permitting. (for youth 10 and up)

Paul Stang
The Mathematics of Zometools and Astro-Logix

Attendees will apply the Pythagorean theorem to discover unique geometries contained within the platonic solids, and how they coincide with key measurements found in trigonometry. They will be amazed by how the Platonic forms interact with each other. A thorough demonstration will be given on _; the golden mean, and its various constructions, plus its relation to the developing understanding. (for youth 14 and above, and adult educators.)

Paul Stang
The Wisdom of Classical and Creative Mathematics

Attendees will see how to use our Sumero-Greco (and othero) system of mathematics to encourage and improve interest, performance, and even fascination for youth. We will see in zome and modeling how to enable learning to be kinesthetic. (for older youth and adults.)

Paul Stang
Phi in the Home School, and when to Bring in Technology

Registration of Children:

All children, teens and adults must register for the conference. All attendees under the age of 18 must have an HSC Release of Liability form on file. Completed forms must be returned with your registration, or be presented at the registration desk, to complete the registration process. Except for infants and nursing toddlers, who may accompany their parents to the adult program free of charge, parents must pay registration fees for children over the age of two who attend general sessions or workshops. All children under the age of 14 must have a parent or caregiver immediately available to them anywhere at the Radisson. HSC and the conference staff take no responsibility for childcare.

Registered children, 4 years old and under are welcome, with their parents or a supervising adult, to attend Family and Young Child activities, and to play in the Courtyard and the Playroom. Please note the workshops recommended for this age group in the program. If you are considering bringing your young child into an adult presentation, please remember to consider the feelings of your child, the speaker, and other attendees; if your child starts to fuss or becomes disruptive during a session or workshop, he or she may be happier elsewhere. It is often helpful to sit or stand near the back or the sides of the audience so that you can easily step out of the room for a few moments, if necessary, to quiet a child. Remember, even happy sounds can be distracting to other people.

Parents must make sure that their children are under the care of a responsible adult at all times, including during children's workshops. Our workshop presente
