Live Action Role Play  (LARP)

We are pleased to announce that this summer's HSC Conference will feature four extended sessions of Live Action Role Play (LARP)!

Christopher Melville will present two 1/2 day workshops for beginners/inexperienced players on Saturday and two 1/2 day workshops for more experienced/advanced players on Sunday.

The Saturday workshops can accomodate 40 players each.  The Sunday workshops can accomodate 30 players each.

LARP Signup Information:
  • If you wish to play at one of the Saturday sessions, the player (not a parent) will have to attend a signup and briefing meeting on Friday night; for Sunday players, the meeting will be on Saturday night.
  • Players must attend in person, parents will NOT be allowed to sign up kids.
  • In addition to signing up for one of the sessions, players will receive the rules and be briefed on the game for the next day.
  • Each registered player will receive a colored wristband to wear to the game the next day
  • Players will only be allowed on the playing field during sessions if they are signed up and wearing the proper wristband.
  • There will be no late check-ins,no drop-in players and no late registrants permitted.  Kid players will be given priority in signups over adult players.  Parents/adult players are also encouraged to hang out to learn to referree the games.
  • Players may sign up for only one session, unless the later sessions have open spaces, then players will be allowed to signup for a second session.
  • We've created this procedure to insure that as many kids as possible will have a chance to participate, and to insure that everyone knows the rules before play begins. We are committed to doing everything we can so that the maximum number of attendees will have a chance to play while keeping the games safe and organized.
  • In addition to the four LARP sessions, we are willing to provide a designated sparring area, however this area must have willing parents to keep an eye on things.  We encourage parents of LARP-ers to help keep the area open by spending a little time there helping out.
  • You may bring your own weapons, however Christopher will be bringing plenty for everyone.  If you do bring
  • your own weapon, it will be inspected for safety by Christopher or his team.   If you do bring your own weapon, you may spar only in the new designated LARP Sparring area (exact location TBD).
  • We will not be offering any foam weapon making workshops this year.
  • Play will be held in just about all of the Courtyard, which will also be roped off for safety.
