Open to Registered HSC Conference Attendees Please bring a bag of clothing/accessories for
the swap
Saturday August 16,
2008 10am-4pm Edgewater D & E
The Teen Conference Committee is not just presenting an Altered Clothing Workshop - they're hosting a Swap-o-rama-rama!
It will be held during the conference on Saturday August 16 form 10am-4pm. You must be a registered attendee
to participate and must bring a bag of clothing to add to the piles. .
The teens would like this event to include participants age 10 and up, but it is especially geared toward our teen attendees.
(For safety's sake, kids under 10 must be supervised by a parent at all times if they are really interested in attending).
What IS a Swap-o-rama-rama? Swap-o-rama-rama
is a communal process of reuse and celebration of collective creativity! It is a clothing swap mixed in with a number
of DIY (do-it yourself) stations where you can learn to reuse and create wonderful things from your old clothing.
It's easy to make the move from consumer to creator - and it's fun. At this Swap-O-Rama-Rama you'll find sewing
stations, embellishment areas, a bead station, all of the notions and tools to help you transform your finds to one-of -kind
creations all your own. We'll have some samples on hand and hand-outs with instructions for common projects for
the uninitiated.
Of course the core of the swap is the gigantic piles of free clothing sorted into categories:
pants, shirts, skirts, sweaters etc. These piles are the collective total of each guest's contribution of any size bag
of unwanted clothes so clean out those closets and let go of what's no longer inspiring. Take home as much clothing as
you can carry. Remainders go to a local charity.
