Wanted: Conference
Volunteers!
It takes alot of people to put on an event this big! Have you considered being a volunteer?
While we do have big jobs for the super committed, what if you just have an hour to spare? Please consider helping us
out at onsite for just an hour or two. We need help with tasks like stuffing our Welcome Bags, sorting stuff in the
Recycled Resource Room or helping with conference setup and breakdown. Come meet new people and be part of the
conference team by volunteering onsite with some of these little jobs! Come ot the volunteer desk onsite and say hi,
or email our volunteer coordinators at volunteers@hscconference.com.
For those of you who are looking to be even
more involved, or to get an idea of what it’s like to be on staff, we will again have a number of dedicated volunteer
spots open. What is a Dedicated Volunteer (DV)? Think of it as being a member of a team for a specific area of the conference.
You are there to help run that area as needed, and to an extent, it is an opportunity to see what it’s like to be a
staff member for the conference. How does it work? Well, when you volunteer to be a DV, you become part of a team
for an area. Your job is to help with setup, breakdown, and the continuous staffing of that area. You work with
the area coordinator and other members of the team to insure that there’s always someone there to staff, but work with
each other to also make sure that everyone gets breaks and time to see workshops that are important to them. We
no longer count hours for DVs; you are expected to help out as much or little as needed so that the area runs smoothly.
The “average” is 12 hours, however it may be more or less, depending on the area you are working in. We
will be posting a detailed description of how the DV program works as well as available positions soon.
